December 4th 2014 – January 24th 2015
Opening Night: Thursday 4th December 6-8pm
In his series of artworks presented at Mailbox Art Space, Christopher Jewitt draws attention to maintenance workers, people who are mostly unseen but are integral to the function of a workplace. Depicting various workers interacting with their tools and instruments, preparing workplaces for daily happenings, i.e. cleaning, these artworks act as reminders of the importance of these people and celebrate their duties.
Jewitt is a Melbourne based multi-disciplinary artist. He predominantly works in the medium of painting using traditional oil paints and processes. His work is strongly influenced by the aesthetic beauty and storytelling powers of Australian Indigenous works and Paleolithic cave painting.
