The idea of the photograph as the archetypal vessel for the preservation of memory is problematised by the works in this exhibition, which attempt to destroy the referential image and from its detritus create an artefact, one whose origins are unclear... 

Hootan Heydari is a Melbourne-based artist. Born in Iran, Heydari moved to Australia, via Italy and USA, in 1985. His early experiences of relocation have resulted in a profound interest in ideas of disruption, memory and flux. He is currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Art at RMIT
