31 May – 1 July 2017
Opening night: Thursday 1 June, 6-8pm
Nature Sublime examines ephemeral moments of wonderment discovered in the natural world and built environment. Translating experiences of awe into a visual language, it explores the possibilities of representation using colour, light and found objects through the process of painting and hand-formed ceramic tablets.
Presented across the vitrines of Mailbox Art Space, a series of arresting but passing moments in painted ceramic form signify a personal memory of an imagined, remembered or experienced space. Each painting explores the evocative nature of space through abstraction; the physical ceramic forms serve as keepsakes or relics for this imagined or real space to exist upon.
