Wisteria Hysteria

8 September - 1 October 2016
Opening performance 15 September, 6-8pm

HYSTERICAL presents the Melbourne debut of Sydney-based queerdos Wisteria Hysteria.

An immersive and performative intervention, exhibition, happening and gaythering, HYSTERICAL represents the cumulation of an on-going queer performance and installation practice, and marks a diversion from the usual nightclub context of duo Wisteria Hysteria.

For the duration of the exhibition, dancing figurines in nightclub couture will fill micro-dioramas at Melbourne's Mailbox Art Space. For one night only the duo will occupy the space themselves, showcasing a range of signature looks and props, transforming and queering the foyer of the heritage listed Pawson House building on Flinders Lane.

In the face of conservative adversity and legislative, social and spacial challenges, HYSTERICAL serves (and werqs) as a reminder of the power of Australia's creative and queer communities.

There will be glitter.

This exhibition is presented through the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2016 program.
