Heavy Majestic locates the moment when contemporary art becomes alchemic. 11 artists experiment with the transmutation of materiality, measuring esoteric and exoteric properties and virtues. 19 mailboxes become hermetically sealed laboratories: Shit turns into gold; flesh levitates; marble tongues yearn to intertwine; photographs become phantoms; and an elevator becomes a metaphysic machine. Simultaneously, the architecture of Mailbox Art Space is filled with abstracted, coloured light, encouraging visitors to traverse physical and mystical levels. The exhibition meditates upon shifting forms and the magic object; nothing is fixed, everything is enduring. This is the mysterious language of Heavy Majestic.
