LEFT RIGHT IMBALANCE

Teresa Hsieh

31 January - 3 March 2018

Artist floor talk: Saturday 24 February, 2pm

Opening night: Thursday 1 February, 6-8pm

In this site-specific solo exhibition, Hsieh considers the intimacy of the mailboxes alongside the expansiveness of Pawson House. Semi-transparent forms inhabit blackened spaces, whilst circular inflatable sculptures float through the stairwell void. A slow deflation is in mind.

Teresa Hsieh (b. 1996, Brisbane) is the recipient of the 2018 Mailbox Art Space artist prize awarded from last year’s Victorian College of the Arts ‘Proud’ exhibition. She explores the interconnection of the internal and external relationship with the body. Hsieh’s work allows visitors to witness modes of being in a way to challenge our compulsion to construct meaning when faced with her self-made beings.
